What Does Worship Mean To You?

Worship

It is something I do on Sunday morning attending church. I believed this was all worship was for a long time. It was the whole service of good music and atmosphere that we received while attending. And boy if I didn’t like it then well I stayed. My husband is the pastor so I couldn’t leave for another church. Ha! But this mentality of leaving one church seeking better music I have seen it happen. Again, do we think worship is just the music and atmosphere?

This week as I sat in church like many Sundays I sang hymns and praise songs thinking,”is this all there is to my worship of God?” All week do I just wait for Sunday at my church to sing a song to worship the holy God? I have been in churches where the people sang with hands lifted high and loud voices and were it was the opposite atmosphere. It was quiet and calm. The message was presented along with other usual Sunday liturgy. Yet I still wondered how we as believers worship God. Obviously there is more to church attendance than this element yet it is a big part of why I see people leave a church. The music or worship. For me as God revealed more and more of himself to me through His Word and as I have received His mercy it became clearer to me that God was so much bigger than what music was played on Sunday morning, or how I felt about the order of service was presented. I attended a corporate worship service to honor my Lord.

Jesus wants my response to be here I am Lord! Use me for your glory. I am suppose to respond to His Spirit in all things in my life. Praise hands or not but with open hands and heart to share His love with others at my local church. Worship to me is being faithful to respond to God everyday. If we believe in a holy God then we will want to bow down and serve Him. Let our worship not just be about observing on Sundays for what we can receive. Let our worship be a response to the faithfulness, mercy and love God shows us daily!

God reveals himself and presents himself everyday to us and we have everyday to respond.

Are we actually living our life in intentional and corporate worship of God?

Tell me what God has taught you about worship?

Blessings

Do you get distracted from bible study?

Have you ever noticed when we make plans for bible study or meeting with friends for bible study something distracts us from getting there or even studying?

I have. We are excited and lay out everything and then things distract us from this precious time together as believers to disciple one another and read scripture. Of course, we may be adding unnecessary pressure to ourselves like having the perfect study time. It definitely can be a drive by through the day because who says we can’t read a little in the morning and through the day as time allows? It could happen at lunch breaks, evenings and mornings. Our schedules are always changing and so can our devotional time with God.

The beauty and goodness of it is that God always meets with us when we come ready to receive His Word. If we can meet with other believers and become disciples together even better. Jesus called disciples to him because it is better for us to be in community to learn together, walk in our faith together and pray for one another.

My prayer is that I don’t add conditions to my time with God but just show up where and when I can everyday and that my heart and speech would be filled with grace and truth to share my testimony for the kingdom of God.

Finding Security

As I think about my security, I admit by nature I fall into feeling secure when my health is not in jeopardy, money is coming in to pay my bills, and all my children are doing okay.  I think a lot of us can relate to this. Right? ⁣
But when any of these things change which for most of us it has or it will at some point, my security seems lost.  It’s not.  I have seen God’s faithfulness in my own family and God always provided. Our human comfort levels are challenged but we grow closer to God through these times of trials.

The security Jesus Christ provides is wisdom, guidance in this life and an 𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 in His 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘴.(Deuteronomy 33:27)  I know I love to sink right into those arms when my “feelings” have a hold of me.  God wants us to 𝘥𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 in Him not in our circumstances. ⁣
If you need to find that security again or if you like me have found yourself finding security in the wrong things at times. ⁣

September Positivity Scripture Challenge Day 16

Today is Day 16 of the Positivity Scripture Challenge

“Whoever speaks the truth declares what is right, but a false witness speaks deceit.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12:17‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Speaking has always made me nervous.  I think it makes a lot of us nervous but is there anyone who doesn’t get nervous about public speaking?

I use to never want to be the one who spoke up.  I was saved at a 13 but was never a confident girl. So speaking about God’s Word or my faith was something I wanted to do but like some of us we hide it in a compartment in our lives and don’t speak up much about it.  I mean when we aren’t confident in an area we usually aren’t the first ones to jump up to speak.
As the years have passed and with the Holy Spirits guidance in my life, wisdom from the Word of God has filled me with Christ confidence to speak about God’s love for me and how He changes us.
For years I lived in bondage to shame of my past sins, I knew I was forgiven but still couldn’t get beyond the lies of shame and guilt.  I wasn’t good enough to do the job God has given me.  I wasn’t equipped. I was a terrible person for the things in my past.   These are the lies I would replay in my mind.
The lies I heard kept me quiet. I wanted to be hidden and it seen.  When I went through a time of prayer for one my children was when I realized God had a purpose for me that I wasn’t fulfilling. I saw God work in my life because I was praying for my child. I was praying for change in him but Jesus changed me!
I believe God is working in our lives everyday and speaking Truth and believing God changes everything.
So today I am a woman who wants you to know we can have the confidence to speak up for Christ when we are grounded in the Word. Dig deep into the Word and daily you will grow wisdom and be watered by the living water, Jesus Christ.

One thing that I know is that God calls us to a purpose. It is as a Christ follower to share about His great love, forgiveness and the salvation we have through Jesus Christ.

Blessings friends!

September Positivity Challenge

Hello friends!

It’s September and I was inspired to join in with  Ashley over at A Pile of Ashes for a positivity scripture challenge.

Do you like challenges or writing scripture?  It’s a fun way to get into the Word and memorize scripture.

This month let’s focus on positivity! The download of the complete September Scripture Challenge is on Ashley’s blog

So much can be negative in our lives but we can focus on God’s Word to change our mind set. Right?

Today’s verse is Proverbs 31:26 NASB

“She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

Is my speech in kindness today?

 Am I seeking God’s wisdom?

I hope you will be inspired to join me and writing out these verses and getting into God’s Word!

*Share this post and tag your friends and let’s memorize these scriptures this month!

Jesus Follower is the only title I want!

Hey there friends!

There is a lot of weight given to the number of followers you have in the world of influence online and I have to stop myself and remember these things often.

*Remember that follower of Jesus Christ is the only title I need in this world. .

*Remember who God is in my life .

*Remember His Word and power is where I can be strengthened to teach and share the gospel with others. It is Not the number of followers or the title someone has. It’s my spiritual growth and relationship with Jesus that matters. .

Who else needed to hear this?

I sure did because these past few weeks I have felt the pull of striving and I don’t want to strive for anything other than Jesus follower! Jesus is my future and hope!

I would love for you guys to tag your bible study thoughts and notes on social with this tag

Also the free bible study group on FB is starting a new Summer study of the women of the Bible

The Bible reads us back like a mirror

We can read the Bible and the Bible reads us back like a mirror seeing into my heart. I am asking myself am I seeking the right thing when I come to the Word of God?

“For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.” James 1:23

My desire is to never walk away from the Word without it changing me. I want to be a reflection of Christ for others to see more of Him. As I desire to know Jesus I must draw near to Him and in the book Ruth I see instructions given to Ruth by Naomi that shows me how I can have intimacy with my Redeemer.

“Wash therefore and anoint yourself, and put on your cloak and go down to the threshing floor, but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. But when he lies down, observe the place where he lies. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down, and he will tell you what to do.” And she replied, “All that you say I will do.”

‭‭Ruth‬ ‭3:3-5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

5 things to being intimate with God?

•Be cleansed (1 Cori 7:1, James 4:8)

•Be fragrantly set apart (1 John2:27)

•Be clothed with the best (Isaiah 61:1-3,10)

•Be committed (Ruth 3:4)

•Be faithfully obedient (Eph 1:3)

All of these things are preparing my heart for a closer relationship with Christ to be a reflection of Him. Let us prepare ourselves like Ruth to meet the Redeemer of our souls today.

Have a wonderful week and share what you are creating this weekend?

Encouragement from Ruth

Hello friends!

These past few weeks as I have been studying the book of Ruth with you guys, I have learned so many nuggets of truth through God's Word.  Isn't it great that as we draw near to God He draws near to us! James 4:8 tells us this.  I am humbled everyday that you can come empty to the throne of God but you wont leave that way. He refuels our life.  I know I have let my tank get low to empty for sure. God will fill us up if we get quite with Him. He gives abundantly more than we can imagine.

So I wanted to share some of these encouraging thoughts I had from studying Ruth.  Kinda what God revealed to me over these past few weeks.

1.  God is our hope in seemingly hopeless situations.  I mean Naomi and Ruth were left widows with no help. They trusted God, turned to Him. They did not turn to the world or other Gods.

2.  Find God in our situations and circumstances instead of searching for a new circumstance, or situation.  We often ask God to give us "what we think we deserve"  like change our job, move us from this situation to another. Although there are situations in life I believe God does move us from and to. I believe God wants us find contentment in Him first.  He is saying, Find ME.
I mean don't you think if you were a widow and left to find a family redeemer, food and provisions you would be praying for change of circumstances too?  I think Naomi and Ruth were content to trust God through the season they were in even though it was hard. We are not promised a easy road to walk in faith that is for sure but God did tell us He would be walking with us and we can find our refuge in Him.  I loved the references to Gods wings being our covering for refuge and hiding place in times of need.  Like Ruth asking Boaz to be her redeemer and cover her. That is what our Redeemer Jesus Christ does for us.

Here are a few scripture references to check out regarding this. See.. Psalm 36:5, Psalm 17:8, and Psalm 91:1

3. God also tells us that He will not slumber before He takes care of your need. See Psalm 121:3
Like Boaz vowed to Ruth in Chapter 3, God vows to take care of our situations.  We must have faith and trust in the waiting. I know many of us feel as though the waiting is too long and hard to bear but I too am waiting on God to move in a life close to me and it may take a lifetime. God is the only one that bring change in hearts.  That doesn't mean we give up on the situation, others or on God. We keep believing and trusting! God Never gives up on us.

4.  "Encourage one another as long as its called Today!"  Hebrews 3:13
That is exactly what Naomi did for Ruth when they found out they had family redeemer.  She explained to Ruth what to do before she went to Boaz. She also, helped her to go boldly to him.  God will give us confidence and in Hebrews 4:16  He says approach His throne with confidence. I like to refer to it as "Christ Confidence" because He is where any confidence I have in sharing with you the gospel comes from. It is from Jesus Christ.  Ruth had that confidence and boldness. She didn't shy away from diligently working and doing the duties set before her.

I shared more over on my Facebook Live video tonight if you are a follower there.  I hope this encourages you or maybe encourages you to search the scripture in Ruth this week along with us as we continue on to Chapter 4 for our final week of bible study in the
"Knit the Gospel into your Heart" bible study group
This is a free online private bible study group I created for women to study the Word and find encouragement together. Feel free to join any time!  Our next study will not be until 2019.
Although if you follow me on my Facebook page, my husband, the preacher and I pop on sometimes for what we like to call  "Jesus and Coffee" chats:) See you there!

I hope have a great week and find rest in the Almighty.

New Bible Study Starts this Month!

Hello friends!

This year I started a Facebook Bible Study Group   It is for us to study God's Word together online.  Several of you asked to do this together and I knew God was calling me to lead it.  It definitely does not take the place of your local church but gives us virtual friends a time together to dig deeper in the Bible together. Sometimes it gives you that extra accountability if you have friends online cheering you one right?

One thing I am passionate about is sharing the gospel of Jesus. We as women need encouragement and to know God's Word for our self not reading second hand knowledge of it through other writings but read and understand the Bible for our self.  It can be intimidating if you have not done it before but God meets with us on the pages and you can do it.  There is no right or wrong way.  I promise. If you are wanting learn more about a book of the Bible then lets do it the book of Ruth.

I am inviting you today to join the group and help encourage other women in studying the Bible as we study Ruth this month!
Ruth is a beautiful story of our 'Kinsman redeemer' God and His lovingkindness to his people.

We will start October 18th in the GROUP  and all you need is your Bible.  A good Study Bible with cross references is great and then go online to  www.biblestudytools.com for more helps.  I also use a good commentary either find one in your local library or online too.

I will be posting in the GROUP  each week and we will have a Live discussion each week in the group as well.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Grace and Peace friends!

Book of Hosea Summer Bible Study

Hello friends!

I hope your Summer is going well.  Ours here in Tennessee has been very hot and then there are days that we get a break from the heat with Summer rain showers.  But the exciting thing around here is the Summer Bible Study I am hosting in the
                                                                  FB GROUP HERE

We are starting week 3 which is Chapters 7-11 of the Book of Hosea.   We have already discussed Chapters 1-6 so if you would like to join us you can always watch the replays in the group. It is called "Knit the Gospel into your heart" Facebook community.  I would love for you to join and receive encouragement through Bible Study.

Sometimes reading the Bible can be hard and especially the Old Testament, right?  I chose the book of Hosea because it was in the Old Testament. So we could dig in and learn together.  I have studied more books in the New Testament naturally because they are easier to read through and understand. Although the OT has history, poetry and all of it points to Jesus. The coming Savior we see and read about in the NT.  It is fun to recognize this as your read through the Bible.  This year I am reading through the entire Bible. It has been rewarding and some days I am confused and others I get it all.  God is faithful to give wisdom when we ask and using tools along with your daily reading helps. Here is a very short commentary   I use when I need to figure out more context while reading.

I will end with some encouragement friends. Start the habit of Bible reading! It will change your day and everyday your are in it.

Have a great weekend!

Back to Work!

Hello friends!

It was a fast 3 weeks off from the shop. If you haven't heard or gotten the email. My shop has reopened. I was itching to reopen even though I needed to take a break. Isn't  that how we feel when we love what we do?  I am a creative person and I dreamed of all the things I could do while on this short vacay but reality set in and really there are way too many great things to do but only a few that are what I could actually fit into my schedule. So as with life we prioritize our schedules with what we need to get done and let the rest go.

I hope you are having a wonderful Summer as well. It is the first day of Summer today and it is raining in Tennessee. It was beautiful sitting on my front porch while watching it fall. I feel like God is showering me with His manna from heaven and I should breathing in His promises and exhaling the junk in my life. It can be tiring if we try doing everything in our own strength so I am praying for His strength to move me today.

Another bit of news for you too, if you follow along in my Facbook group or my Facebook page you may have heard about the new bible study starting in July. Yes, it is an inductive bible study through the book of Hosea. We will discuss each week through the book and there will be live videos for you to join in! I am praying for God to give wisdom and guidance through this time together. I hope you can join. Drop me a comment below and let me know if you will be joining me!

New Bible Study in April

Custom Design Bracelet in the Shop!

Hello friends!

I am excited that so many have wanted to join me in doing a bible study together. I created private FB group  called, "knit the gospel into our hearts" group just so we can talk in a private group and get to know one another better and have prayer requests in one place.
This month we will study book of James starting April 9th. I posted the picture of Grace Upon Grace Study of James by The Daily Grace Co.
You do not need to buy this study but this company has some really cute devo's.
If you would like to join the group go ahead and request. You only Need a bible, journal, and access to online commentaries and dictionaries. You are set!

Inductive bible study is reading and rereading the scriptures over and over and then reading each verse asking the questions who, what, when, and how?
This is something we will be able to journal and talk about as we go along this month. If you have questions about joining the group, please ask.  I am keeping it simple and the group is for fans and followers of handmade knits by tracy
So come on over and join!

Are you Praying BIG!

Hello Friends!

Gods word always changes my worry into worship. Hebrews 4:16 says come confidently to God and He will give us mercy and find grace in our time of need.

Are you praying in confidence to our Heavenly Father? He wants all of our heart, mind, and body and our Big Prayers to Him that if He isn't in that thing your praying for or about it will not work, be healed, or happen in our lives.  We have to give it all to Him in confident prayers.

My WHY

I started creating bracelets that encourage women began about a year and a half ago when I needed to be encouraged during a season of life that felt like I was suffocating and drowning in the pit of parenting struggles with teenager. Have you felt that way before? Or maybe you are there now? I can tell you you are not alone friends. Prayer and God's Truth is where you can find an ever present help, always 💞

His Word fed my soul and words just seemed to leap off the page and I wanted them to wear daily. So I began this dream to create bracelets using my God given talent, knitting and the need for scripture to be in front of me and you guys have blessed supporting me and more importantly God has used you guys to encourage me when I doubted in myself.

So today I pray for the mother, sister, wife, friend and woman who needs to feed her faith and not the lies, pray big to our Heavenly Father.

Grace to you friends!

Jesus Girl Running

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance, and in your book
were written the days that were ordained for me,
when as yet there was not one of them.
Psalm 139:16

Bracelet Shop

Hello friends!

These past few weeks I have been reading and studying the book of Jonah. It is 4 chapters packed with so many nuggets of truth about God's character and how we are still pursued and drawn back to God for His purpose. Here is just a little of what God is teaching me.

We can plan our lives out and think we are in control of everything until life throws us the unexpected or God asks us to do something we are not comfortable with doing or going.  Priscilla Shirer calls it 'life interruptions'.  Whatever you want to call it, they can throw you for a tail spin if you can't see what the future holds. That unknown is scary and uncomfortable.  See, I like to be comfortable and in control all the things in my life.  When I can't control everything, where do I turn? Our rebellious hearts can lead us away from the presence of God where we no longer hear His voice to convict us of disobedience. Like Jonah we can go a long distance on our own and that sin can take us farther than we thought, longer than we expected, and cost more energy than desired.  All because we are running from God.  Jonah heard what God told him but ran away.
Don't we realize God already knows where we are and we are breaking His heart by disobeying Him. I am thankful for His faithfulness to still pursue us even while we are running away.  As His children we are asking for discipline, right?  Jonah was swallowed up by the fish and stayed there 3 days and 3 nights. We can fall so hard into the pit we put ourselves inside of and stay there for a spell until we realize what we have done and cry out to our God who saves.  I tell you this because I have been the one running before.  You can be a church going, Jesus girl and still be a Jonah, running from God.  You see going through the motions of being a believer such as church going, fellowship dinners, and working in the church is all good but it's the intimate relationship Our Savior seeks from us.  Our hearts are disobeying God if it isn't bent toward Him. This can be emotionally running away where no one else sees or outwardly running away. Are you running girl?
We can either surrender everything to the One who can save us or hold on with a tight grip and be in constant worry, turmoil and pain.  Jesus wants you to lean into Him with the heavy and hard stuff.

As a believer, His Spirit lives inside you! His Words are life!
There with Jesus is where intimacy, true peace and rest will come. The hope in His arms is where hope for your weary soul is found.  It is not just in life's interruptions that Christ wants our yielded submission but everyday with open hearts and and hands to go where He leads and share the story He is writing for you and me for His glory!

Let God be the main character of our life!

Our story is our testimony to the world of His unconditional, gracious love and mercy.

"Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and keep it. " Luke 11:28

Looking for a New Bible?

Hello Friends!

What kind of bible do you use? That is a question I hear from a lot of people. There are so many bibles to choose from and WOW the choices. Have you even went into the book store lately and looked? I am sure if you have you were overwhelmed.
There are as many translations as there are different kinds of bibles. Marketing seems to appeal to all kinds of consumers such as women, men, outdoorsman, illustrators, mothers and don’t forget the options of leather, hard bound, cloth linen, as well as bibles from very popular bible study shops like She Reads Truth .

Here are few popular ones I have seen lately The Jesus Bible , ESV Study Bible , and if you like to illustrate or color this bible you might like the Beautiful Word Bible .

I have used different bibles over the years but the ones I really like are the not so heavy in weight and easy to read. I usually go with English Standard Version or ESV.  As I study,  I can always refer to different translations online like using Bible Study Tools which is so much easier and cheaper than actually having a different bible on hand.

Do you do that too? I feel like online study tools are so easy to find and refer to. I mean you technically could read the bible online and not own a physical copy. The draw back to that I see is taking notes in the margins or highlighting important words for later study although you techy people probably know how to do all that stuff on your device. Right? LOL

As far as your next bible purchase I would suggest these 3 things

1. Get a bible you can read and has a literal translation of the original text.  Does not change the Word of God.

2. Get one that you love the color and over all design so you will want to carry with you. (Not heavy maybe?)

3. Get a bible with you desired print size. (Large or Regular print)

4. Most important get a bible that you will read and enjoy learning God’s Truth!

My latest bible purchase is the The New Inductive Study Bible .   I am attending the Precepts Ministries Fall Women's Confernce in a few days and so excited to learn how to study the bible inductively.
Kay Arthur is the founder of Precepts Ministries. She and others on her team teach the inductive method for studying the bible. I personally have not used this method until now.  I think as we grow in our relationship with the Lord and seasons change in our lives different methods are a good thing.

Share with me your bible you are using right now? And what methods help you in your daily walk?

I really hope this helps you in finding your next bible.

I would love to see your bible and say hello! Come follow me over on Facebook or Instagram

Bring on Fall

Hello friends!

Fall has finally arrived in Tennessee.  Today was so cool I had to cozy up in a sweater and that is exciting for me.  The leaves on the trees are turning shades of red, yellow, and copper. We don't live in the Eastern part of TN where the mountains display the trees in grandeur but our Western part is still beautiful nonetheless.

As the temperatures drop, I am even more inspired to knit. The shop has a few colors leaving because I am sold out so that means new ones will be showing up!

Here is one I am excited to show you.

It is called Truffle Shuffle. I am thinking the word 'rejoice' for this cuff. What do you think?

I have to say you guys design the best bracelets.  Some of my best sellers are the ones You designed. I am grateful for each of you helping me in this creative journey.  hAndmade knits by trAcy would not be what it is if I did not have faithful friends like you returning to the shop and encouraging me.  I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The other things happening around here is that I have started a new bible study. It is called the Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer.  If you read last months post  where I read her book Fervent , then you know how powerful a message it is.  I highly recommend one or both books.  I know the power of prayer works and am excited to dig deeper into God's Word about it.

Will you be joining me in bible study? Or have you already done it? Please share with me.

Mid Week Refreshment

Hello Everyone!

This week I was lead to read through Psalm 23. This chapter has 6 powerful verses of comfort and refreshment.  I have never been a early morning riser but this week God nudged me to get up at 5:30am.  Yes I said 5:30 AM.  LOL!  Now this is something that isn't easy for me but I knew this was something I need to do in obedience to His calling.  You see the last few weeks I know I have been doing everything in my own strength and letting things such as work control my thoughts and leaving me feel exhausted.  You know the feeling right?

So Sunday night, I knew Psalm 23 would be a perfect way to restore my weary soul by reading through this chapter taking the next 6 days to focus on each verse and writing out the scripture.
God's word really sticks when you read, read and read it again plus writing it down.
So if you want to follow along each day I am recording Live Audio over on my Facebook Page where I keep you updated better of what is happening at Handmade knits by tracy

Today is day 3 and I already can see walking in obedience to His Word has given me joy and a revived feeling.  May we as women not grow apathetic to the Word of God and forget how it truly satisfies our thirsty souls.
I would love for you to share what book of the Bible you are reading through and what God is teaching you. If you are reading along with me please share with me what God is teaching you.

Bless you friends
