Good Morning from the Garden

Good Morning friends!

As gardeners we love to grow things but we must tend the soil put in good nutrients and give the right amounts of water and plant the seeds.  The plants will grow although each at their own pace and differences.  This parallel to our own lives fascinated me and really gives me new perspective every time I am in the garden. I have learned so much in this first year of gardening and I haven’t arrived at a place where I am “good.”  I see it as a lifetime of tending the soil and growing but the Master gardener who is perfect shares His wisdom with me and I find rest and enjoyment for my soul by the work of my hands and heart.  I grow as the plants grow with stronger roots everyday, little by little.

Who else is dreaming of the garden?
What have you learned?

Lettuce bags are going in today in my very tiny greenhouse.  I will try to share more later.

September Positivity Scripture Day 13

Today is Day 13 of the Positivity Scripture Challenge

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬

Who else needs a pep talk?  This verse seems like a pep talk at this moment while reading it except in and of myself there is weakness.  There isn’t much courage without God in me.
As I have grown deeper in studying who God is in the Bible, I know that even when I give my all there is still God working to make me strong. Standing firm is easier when I am reminded who Hod is.  In my weakest moments in life, God gives me strength to keep going.  He also has given me courage to step in faith without knowing what’s on the other side of the decision being made.  He gives discernment to the believer when we grow in knowledge of Him.

Who is God to you?
If you can’t answer this question, I urge you to find your bible and dig in!  Bible study doesn’t have to be complicated. We can read a few verses a day like this scripture challenge and search it out and His Word will reveal who God is for us.

To bear the image of Christ is to know who He is!

Lord Jesus thank you for giving us a courageous heart of faith.  I pray we seek you for the decisions being made in our life.  Forgive us of doubts and fears but give us a spirit of positivity and confidence in you Jesus🙌🏻  Amen

Blessings-

September Positivity Challenge

Hello friends!

It’s September and I was inspired to join in with  Ashley over at A Pile of Ashes for a positivity scripture challenge.

Do you like challenges or writing scripture?  It’s a fun way to get into the Word and memorize scripture.

This month let’s focus on positivity! The download of the complete September Scripture Challenge is on Ashley’s blog

So much can be negative in our lives but we can focus on God’s Word to change our mind set. Right?

Today’s verse is Proverbs 31:26 NASB

“She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

Is my speech in kindness today?

 Am I seeking God’s wisdom?

I hope you will be inspired to join me and writing out these verses and getting into God’s Word!

*Share this post and tag your friends and let’s memorize these scriptures this month!

Let's Study the Book of Thessalonians Together

hAndmAde knits by trAcy

Hello Friends!

Are you looking to start a new bible study?

Well starting February 1st I will be hosting the study of Thessalonians in the Knit the Gospel into your Heart FB Group   This is private group of women who love Jesus and want to grow in their walk through bible study together.

If you would like to join us feel free to go request to join. (You must answer the two questions before being accepted) Thanks so much!

This study will be of the whole book of Thessalonians. It is an inductive study which means you only need a study Bible to read and study with.  There are no other book requirements. Just bring yourself to the group with a eagerness to learn from God's Word.  I believe the best way to learn is to let scripture interpret scripture asking the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the rest.  Of course as we dig deeper, we can check trusted commentaries and do word studies for further study.

The point of the group is to spur one another on in our walk with the Lord,  to encourage one another and to pray for one another.

The study will be 4 weeks through the book of 1, 2 Thessalonians with a Live discussion every week.
I am also sharing my method of studying books of the Bible with you if you want some extra guidance through your study.  The reading plan will be posted as well in the group.

I am excited to start and hope to see you there February 1st!

How do I understand the Bible?

I don't understand the Bible.

Is that a statement you have said or thought?

Have you felt like reading the Bible was just frustrating because it was a lot of historical words and what could this possibly mean for me?

Well, reading the Bible is more about finding out who God is rather than about me or you.  I use to feel this same way. Its hard and really not that interesting of a book until God changed that perspective with a challenge to just read the Bible everyday. That's it! Everyday little by little using a reading plan in the EVERY DAY WITH JESUS BIBLE   I was hooked everyday I prayed the Holy Spirit will reveal His Word and bless my time in it.  Since then it has given me a hunger and thirst for more.  There is so much to learn about God which then teaches me how I am to be like.

Here are my tips to Understanding the Bible...

1. Make reading the Bible a habit. Ask the Holy Spirit will give you wisdom to understand as you read more and more. If there is specific scripture you want to dig deeper into then write it down and even meditate on it throughout the day and week.

2. Intentionally plan to read everyday. It doesn't matter to God when you do it as long as you do it. This is harder in  different seasons but still doable. Begin with a plan.

3. Write out your thoughts and prayers during your time. God is a teacher and His character is all through the Bible and soon you will find out that Jesus Christ is the connecting thread throughout the entire Bible. So jot down those characters of God you see and how we should be more like Him.

I am rooting for you friend as we read the Holy Bible!

What does a follower of Christ look like ?

Hello friends!

This life as a Christ Follower is more than just speaking words out loud to Him or asking things of Him. It is a constant seeking of Jesus Christ to learn more about Him so I can fear, honor and praise Him more than man. (See Psalm 86:11-12)
Proverbs 18:15 says “the mind of the discerning acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks it.” I want to know God more everyday. So that my sin never looks desirable again. In Hosea, as I have studied so far, Israel had no knowledge of God so their sin was still okay to them. It’s sad that I have been in a cycle of sin in my past too. You know, I made excuses about how busy mom life was with work, kids, and sports but the truth is I hurt myself and my family because I wasn’t as close to the Lord. I fell right into a pit! That even as a believer our eyes can be blinded by sin if we aren’t armoring ourselves with God’s Word everyday. Thankfully God never stopped pursuing me and He wrangled this messy momma back into His arms 🙌🏻 and He will do the same for you! 😘

So bless you guys this week and I am praying that if you read this far you #knitthegospelintoyourheart everyday💗

Eat God's Word Everyday

Are you eating with Lord?

Hello Friends!

Are you hungry?   I mean hungry for something that lasts forever and can never be taken away. The love, joy, peace  and forgiveness that can only found in Jesus Christ. We all have sinful desires and each of us can easily seek the things of this world to fill us up, to give us temporary satisfaction but it will disappoint or even send us down a path of destruction.  This hunger can only be filled with Jesus.  We were created to want something more.  We were meant to be His image bearers. This is why we as Christ followers need the Word of God to drink and eat of His Word.  How can we reflect Him if we aren't looking in the mirror of the Bible.

So our provider of everything is waiting to feed His children not only physically but spiritually.
God has equipped us with His Word so that our "eyes would be opened to recognize Him" daily.  I am praying that we would not be "slow of heart to believe" but keep His Word close so our "eyes will be opened".

I am reading through the bible in a year. I don't know if you are taking this challenge this year or not but just this one act of obedience has changed my life. You see I use to never be confident about what God's Word said because I didn't know what it said. I was not reading it to really dig in and learn. Sometimes I read the Bible out of obligation or because I needed something and on Sundays it would be like a crash course from sermon notes.  Then I realized if I wanted more confidence in Christ and have true growth in my walk with Christ I needed to learn what God's Word said for my self. So I started reading and writing scripture daily. The writing really helped my mind see the words and then reading them helped me memorize them. I have even written scripture on my hands to give myself truth to focus on during my day.  Try it for yourself and see God change your day and open the eyes of  your heart throughout your day to see His abundance and recognize His work all around us.

I want to challenge you to read scripture everyday too.  I think we can all relate to being lead by emotions and our own strength. It is through God's Word that we can distinguish  between lies of this world and truth. This is were we will grow roots so we can stand firm in our walk with the Lord and truly be Spirit lead through our days.

I am rooting for you this year to get started reading through God's Word for the first time or continue on in the faith my friend.
I shared more here on this  Facebook Live Video  about being lead by the Spirit if your interested.  I hope to keep encouraging  you guys so go ahead and leave me a comment whether you are joining me or if there is something you would like to hear more discussion on.  Walking this Christian life isnt easy and we must rely on Christ to do it.

"But you beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit." Jude 20

Grace to you!

Walk in Christ Confidence

hAndmAde Knits by trAcy Shop

Hello friends!

I did a whole series on FB Live about Christ confidence. If you would like to go check them out here is the LINK to WATCH

This subject Christ confidence is one I feel like a lot of women need encouragement with, especially since the world gives us messages like how we look on the outside is the only way to have confidence, how we dress is the only way to have confidence, and how much money we have is the way to confidence.
Walking confidently in Christ is so different. The confidence we can walk in only comes from Jesus Christ. Let me tell you my story of confidence.

My perspective is from a christian perspective. I believe Jesus Christ is my Savior who then supplies me with every possible need and all the confidence needed to walk in this world. Now that said, we don't always receive the confidence or believe who we are in Christ. Why? Because we listen to the voices in our lives who contradict His Word or ignore God and listen to the world's voice. Which is louder in your life right now?

I have been there! Growing up I was called names like "Olive Oil" (if you dont remember the cartoon Popeye) and something like a silly name will stick with you until adulthood. So you can imagine my confidence was a little low during the high school years. I worked hard to overcome my shy, introverted self by putting myself out there, like being in the high school pageant my Junior year of high school. It was something that scared me to death but I seemed to always want the very things that scare me the most. I was shy even though to the outside world thought I was not. I was a cheerleader and a band member all of which I worked so hard to be apart of because I was not the best. So you can imagine I was scared to death to walk across a stage without feeling like I needed to throw up and my heart beating out of my chest. Why did I want to do this?
I researched entering a pageant and bought the perfect dress. I asked my friends who had competed and got all the advise needed to practice, practice and practice.
I ended up winning the high school pageant. I was confident but I was a beleiver not walking in the right confidence of God's Word and Truth.

Fast forward to me a married woman, I was in unknown territory with marriage and small children. My husband after a few years of marriage surrendered to God's call to full time ministry. We were active in our church but when he told me I was in shock. This isn't who I married, a pastor.  I was shy, remember? I didn't want to talk to people about God's love much less be seen at this point in my life. I had small children and I was just trying to survive as a working mom outside of the home and figure this whole raising kids thing out. Now I had to do it in a glass house with people watching me because of a title I didn't even ask for, pastor's wife.
So God was working and calling us both but I rebelled as you probably can imagine.  You can read my  POST HERE    if you are interested in my rebellious heart.

Confidence came when my relationship with Jesus Christ was nurtured and I was believing who He says I am. I stopped listening to the voices of this world. Friend, we must let God's voice be louder than this world. Walking in Christ confidence will come when our hearts are tethered to Jesus Christ. He looks at our heart not the outward appearance.
1 Samuel 16:7
..... For the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart."

Now after my third child I entered the Mrs.Tennessee America pageant. It was a way to get back into shape after having a baby and something I thought I could use as a platform to speak about my faith and marriage.  I won. The first ever entry and I won. The thing is I still had no confidence to speak about my faith because I was still not intimate enough with Jesus and walking confidently in Him. Like winning a contest will give you the ability to speak confidently about anything. I could speak but it was with doubt and fear not with boldness of the Spirit. I was still rebellious and not listening to His voice. I was selfish and going through the motions of being a Christ Follower on the outside but on the inside I was lost in sin.

It took a long time for me to turn myself around. To realize that God isn't taking me out of ministry because it was uncomfortable so I need to get on board with Him. You see God never stopped pursuing me all those years. It wasn't until my teen son was out of our control and we as parents couldn't do anything but hit the floor in prayer to call out to our God for His mighty work in our lives and our sons life. God had stripped me of any control I thought I had. It was then that my heart was drawn back to my loving Father and began seeking Him fervently. I was so hungry for God's Word and was ashamed that I had been so selfish trying to be confident in my marriage and family without allowing Him to lead me.

The scriptures tell us we are loved with unconditional love, never ending. He is gracious, merciful and slow to anger. I am thankful for because there isn't anywhere else we should be seeking love besides our spouse. I learned that God calls us His beloved, chosen and redeemed daughter of the King. We already have a crown from the King of Kings and Lord of Lords as His child we have a crown on our heads to walk confidently in Christ.  Jesus Christ equips us for kingdom work for His glory and gives us boldness. This is walking in Christ Confidence. I have received a boldness and strength because I surrendered my life and stopped walking in bondage to the outside worlds views of me.

I pray this helps you seek His face and receive the boldness, strength and power to share the gospel with those around you too. Amen

Walk in Christ Confidence my friends!

Looking for a New Bible?

Hello Friends!

What kind of bible do you use? That is a question I hear from a lot of people. There are so many bibles to choose from and WOW the choices. Have you even went into the book store lately and looked? I am sure if you have you were overwhelmed.
There are as many translations as there are different kinds of bibles. Marketing seems to appeal to all kinds of consumers such as women, men, outdoorsman, illustrators, mothers and don’t forget the options of leather, hard bound, cloth linen, as well as bibles from very popular bible study shops like She Reads Truth .

Here are few popular ones I have seen lately The Jesus Bible , ESV Study Bible , and if you like to illustrate or color this bible you might like the Beautiful Word Bible .

I have used different bibles over the years but the ones I really like are the not so heavy in weight and easy to read. I usually go with English Standard Version or ESV.  As I study,  I can always refer to different translations online like using Bible Study Tools which is so much easier and cheaper than actually having a different bible on hand.

Do you do that too? I feel like online study tools are so easy to find and refer to. I mean you technically could read the bible online and not own a physical copy. The draw back to that I see is taking notes in the margins or highlighting important words for later study although you techy people probably know how to do all that stuff on your device. Right? LOL

As far as your next bible purchase I would suggest these 3 things

1. Get a bible you can read and has a literal translation of the original text.  Does not change the Word of God.

2. Get one that you love the color and over all design so you will want to carry with you. (Not heavy maybe?)

3. Get a bible with you desired print size. (Large or Regular print)

4. Most important get a bible that you will read and enjoy learning God’s Truth!

My latest bible purchase is the The New Inductive Study Bible .   I am attending the Precepts Ministries Fall Women's Confernce in a few days and so excited to learn how to study the bible inductively.
Kay Arthur is the founder of Precepts Ministries. She and others on her team teach the inductive method for studying the bible. I personally have not used this method until now.  I think as we grow in our relationship with the Lord and seasons change in our lives different methods are a good thing.

Share with me your bible you are using right now? And what methods help you in your daily walk?

I really hope this helps you in finding your next bible.

I would love to see your bible and say hello! Come follow me over on Facebook or Instagram
